Around Duomo, Milan ....

It was one fine Sunday in Milan. The sky was blue, the weather was fantastic and we took a walk around Duomo, went to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II had some Gelato and stroll along via Dante. Wonderful! (Sadly, this was two months ago already!)

Portofino

I am glad we made it to Portofino. It is such a lovely beautiful amazing little place. We took a ferry from St. Margherita and it was just a short ride with gorgeous view.  The town is small and every place seems to be near the harbour. They have a nice Gelato too! Yum.

Bellagio

It has been more than a month ago since we visited the place but the memory of this gorgeous place still lingers on. The cruise on Lake Como took us to our destination, Bellagio. Bellagio is a city in Lombardy. Bellagio is located at the tip of the peninsula, separating Lake Como's two arms. It's a beautiful place to see and stay. I love th buildings there in particular. We took  a cruise on well known Lake Como to enjoy the beauty of the lake and the stunning scenery around it.Here are some of the pictures.

 

Bernina Express

We took Bernina Express to St. Moritz in Switzerland from Tirano. The whole train ride took more than two hours as it stopped in many stations. No complain here, as the scenery is so stunning. It was such a beautiful ride that made everyone take picture again and again.

 

Lunch at Ristorante Ai Portici, Tirano

We were in Tirano and we didn't exactly pick the place to eat. When we go with a bunch of people and are indirectly led towards eating in a place for the convenience of everyone, we just join them. We also had time constraint so we just had lunch here with everyone in the group at Ai Portici. Just to be fast we picked the local specialties, Caprese Salad (above) and Pizzoccherri (below). Pizzoccerri is pasta made mainly using buckwheat flour, cooked with savoy cabbage and cubed potatoes and cheese. I actually liked it. It is seldom seen on the menu in Italian restaurants outside Tirano, I was told. In fact, it was my first time hearing of it, seeing and tasting it.

First Gelato In Milan

We did not plan to restrain ourselves from having as many Gelato as we could. We had our first Gelato from Savini in Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II, within the vicinity of Duomo. Savini is one of the oldest restaurants in Milan.They have quite a yummy gelato.
