Desserts At Zizzi, Oxford

We were still in Oxford. It was after lunch and we were heading to the train station to go back to London. We knew that we would pass by Zizzi and we planned to stop buy for coffee and had their Apple Crumble dessert. We had it before when we in Cambridge and for the sake of good memory, we wanted to have it again.

The above is Mela Croccante. It is oven baked apple with crumble topping, served with a scoop of vanilla gelato.

My family is a chocolate lover and they simply could resist ordering their their Torta Cioccolata. The menu describes it as a rich hazelnut and chocolate tart, was also served with a scoop of vanilla gelato.

Lunch at Shezan, Oxford

It's time for lunch after we were done with Christchurch Cathedral. We walked  along the streets nearby trying to find a place that all or most of us could agree on. We saw a Thai restaurant, a couple of Western restaurants, some cafes and others. The winner was this Indian restaurant called Shezan.

The place was quiet when we were there, there was only another table occupied. The service from the only waiter/manager was great. We ordered our usual orders, samosas, Gobi, some chicken in curry sauce and a couple of different naans. The food was excellent and I'd love to go back there if I ever get the chance.

Christchurch Cathedral, Oxford - Part 2

More pictures from around the compound of Christchurch Cathedral. It rained on and off when we were there. The weather was pleasant in general. It was a lovely place to visit.

Revisiting Christchurch Cathedral, Oxford - part 1

We were here, years ago. It was back when Harry Potter was just out and everyone was eager to see where the movie drew inspirations from and the many scenes were shot in. I guess, people's interest on the location and the significance of the cathedral itself continue to be strong. Many people were seen to visit, including school children from various places in the world.

Admission price was 8.50GBP for this Summer, I read that prices do change and the opening times are amended from time to time.

The Great Hall (below) reportedly was replicated to create Hogwart's Hall in the film studios. The Hall is often closed from 11:40 til 2:40 for lunch and we were fortunate enough to make it before the closing time. We were rushed a bit, but made it around and took some pictures inside.

Leaving For Oxford ...

The day we decided to go to Oxford was not exactly a bright sunny day, we needed to go that day because we had other things planned on other days. We left in the morning, we walked to Paddington station from our hotel. It rained and it took us about 30 minutes to get there. We bought our two-way train tickets and they cost us £47 for the four of us. I thought it was a good price. The train ride with a couple of stops took around one hour.

It was a cool day, there were not that many people around as we walked towards the center of the city. it's the beginning of our tour around Oxford. We planned to walk around and had lunch later on.
