This was one of the many restaurants that we went to when we were in Kyoto. It's a place that specializes in unagi (eel), but we also had salmon sashimi and plum wine to go with the meal.

Shin Kushiya Lunch
DH and I were in Vivo City and it happened to be lunch time. We were looking for sushi and decided to revisit Shin Kushiya. We tried a new item i.e soft shell crab salad roll (third picture from the top) and it was quite nice. It is easy to pick up and it is a healthy dish, minus the crab.

Lunch At Itacho, Ion
It was an after appointment lunch last Tursday, we had some sushi and salad at Ion. It was alright for me, but the salad was not satisfying, both in terms of flavor and size.

Sumire, Jakarta
Sumire is one of the more frequented Japanese restaurants by DH in Jakarta, often by no choice. Don't get it wrong, he is alright with the food and he wanted me to try them. I probably had been there just once or twice over the past many years. I had high expectations, but overall, I think my expectations were a tiny bit too high. The food was alright, the service was good, but I have tried better Japanese food elsewhere.
We had sushi, sashimi, tempura, kakiage and futomaki as well as miso cod.

Nobu, Las Vegas
When we were in Las Vegas in August last year, we had dinner at Nobu. There were four of us and we managed to get quite a good variety of dishes. The food was better than expectation and I could not be happier.

Mikaku, San Francisco
This is another Japanese restaurant that we frequent each time we visit San Francisco. Years ago, Mikaku was recommended by a concierge at Grand Hyatt Hotel, where we stayed at that time. Its location is really nearby Union Square, just a couple of blocks from Grand Hyatt and right by the China Town gate. Very convenient. And the food is good too.
We had two visits during our trip last August and here are most of the dishes we had.

Roka Akor, San Francisco
With our forthcoming trip back to San Francisco, I feel the need to post these "old" pictures from our trip back in August last year. I was so busy and somehow never posted these beautiful looking and delicious Japanese food we had. It was DH's and my first meal in that restaurant and certainly won't be our last. In fact, this is on top of my "to eat" list. L & V recommended the place and joined us for the meal. With four of us being there, we had a nice spread and got to try many dishes.
I can't quite pick which of these as my favorite as all of there were very fine. I was particularly impressed with the beef and hope to order the same one, should we have enough eaters on the table. Their scallops (above) were good and the sashimi was heavenly. Now I am getting excited about this long trip.

Sushi Goshin Lunch
It's another sushi lunch that I had with both DH and Miss K. We simply ordered what we liked and did not put any efforts into trying the dishes that we never tried before like we occasionally attempt to. Happy bellies are happy us. :)
