On Pizza Night

It was Singapore National Day last Thursday and we sat in the living room, watching the celebration on TV and tried to occasionally peek from our terrace on what's going on from afar. The Olympics channels were also on, there were definitely plenty exciting channels to watch. DH went down to Limoncello restaurant downstairs with two of our kids and bought two pizza back home for dinner.

More Waiting...

We went to the store to get these shelves, but they did not have the one that we needed. Of course we left our name and phone number to be contacted when the goods arrived which was supposed to be at the end January. At the end of January, we visited another branch and were told that the shelves would be arriving in February. Come mid February and we contacted and the tall shelves that we wanted had not arrived yet. March, they said. March indeed and we got the text informing that they were in the country. Now, we were busy and only managed to go about a week later. We placed our order and they could only deliver at the end of the month. So we are waiting now.

Water Pressure Test

One early morning last week, I found water on the floor of our master bathroom. After the floor was wiped dry, the water came back in again.  We started to identify that the water came from the wall behind the closet. We were unable to open the flushing unit that was installed on the wall, we just could not figure it out. The water stopped leaking the next day. After two visits from a group of four people, trying to solve the issue, they decided to perform a water pressure test on the bathroom. A few hours later, they came back and concluded that there's nothing wrong with the system. The floor is dry now, there's no more leakage and they figured it has been a temporary insanity water overflow.

Done!

19 days after it started, minus nearly a week of holiday, all are put up and painted.  No distraction as the weather was good today. And the bonus, dining-room small-side-terrace got re-painted too! Ya-hooooo.....

Supposed To Be ....

The company that we hired to do this job was very confident that the timber flooring will be ready by Tuesday, which was a couple of days ago. They said they would be able to finish installing a big tall shelving unit in our store room and a couple of minor work works related to the doors in our place here. Well, the timber flooring was not near done yet.  What we had this evening was just like in the picture. I still have not got my shelf yet as well. (Sigh....)

Gone Within A Day!

By afternoon, our (former) water fountain was gone, it has been reduced to flat ground. WIP!

Fountain: Last Look

Right in the front terrace of our place, we had a fountain. It's not our choice to have that fountain, but it came with the unit when we bought it. There was a way to set up its timer and the water would be pumped up at the set up time. I never learned how to do it. The problem is that by leaving it on, when it rained, the water that overflowed would trigger a loud beep sound that made everyone panic as it sounded as if we needed to evacuate immediately. It's horrible when the rained at night when we all were asleep.

Knowing that, we hardly turned it on. We kept it off most of the time and after a while, it's almost forgotten and it no longer worked. We had no intention to spend money on fixing it again and again and decided to knock it down and put a timber flooring there. It's time to say goodbye.

While taking its pictures, I could not help watching the beautiful morning sky on the background as the sun was rising. I simply felt compelled to take some snapshots. It's a gorgeous morning, isn't it?

Setting...

After 7PM last evening, the sun was setting in a pretty pink color..., a different one that I have witnessed before.

Growing Fast

Some of the Zinnias that we planted and grew on their own, thanks to the wind that blew the seeds away, grow so fast. They were planted just over a month ago after my two sisters left early in March. Upon returning from Japan, I saw the flower buds appearing in many of the plants, some of which were still small, but maybe old enough to produce flowers.

On A Day...

Dark cloud was hanging in the sky, not long after 7AM in the morning yesterday. Subsequently, we had rain and strong wind. So strong that it knocked down many of the potted plants in the garden and forced some plants to really bowed down. Grrhhh... it's so tricky to deal with the weather as we can't simply alter the house according to what we need. I doubt if we can get the permission from authority in charge to alter any parts on the outside of the building to accommodate our needs. It's a bummer.

During the rain and after, there's a long stretch of cars, practically crawling bumper to bumper, heading towards the business district area.

After the rain, the air was, of course, cleared up and I began noticing things that I did not pay attention to before. Like the fact that there are some trees being put up there on the top of Marina Bay Sands Casino building. I had to use my gigantic lens to capture that.

Comes the evening, comes the magnificent colors in the sky.

Then the sun set, displaying awesome orange black colors in the sky. What a day!

6:54 AM

The sky was really gorgeous this morning, it was barely 7AM and the kids were getting ready for school. The sun has not quite risen yet. Click on the picture to see the bigger version, you can see the moon above the tallest building in it.

A Clear Sunday Afternoon

On a clear day, the sky is blue, the ocean is darker blue and the islands surrounding the country are visible from the distance. Ships and planes are identifiable easily as well. This afternoon was one of the few times where this happens.

Birdies....

Let me begin by saying that the missing luggage was found and delivered safely to the dorm of the owner. Thank God that they are re-united!

These plants are simply glorious, just look at the bird shapes that are formed..... I know that it has a proper name that I still look for but to no avail so far. The next time I go to the nursery, I hope to remember to look it up! I know they have them for sale.

I have not got much of the plant expect for what is seen here. I like what I see, it'll grow in time.....

Getting Ready For The Lunar New Year ...

We took down our Christmas decoration in the first week of this year and every place that we go to these days and since the beginning of the year, seems to be getting ready for the Lunar New Year which is going to take place on the same day as Valentine's day this year.

We have not done anything much other than buying some goodies for some friends overseas as well as our own consumption and bought ourselves a potted pussy willow tree from Ikea and a red pot with Lunar New Year theme writing on it. They have some products advertised for the Lunar New Year. A smart business move indeed.

We have driven by China Town and the place is, of course, already well decorated. We might check the place out next week, hoping things are not as hectic as now .... and I am no longer too sleep-deprived. I need more sleep, really.

It's Time For The Yellows...

It would not be fair if I do not write anything about my yellow sunflowers that seemed to all blossomed these days. They did.

And that satisfied our rather pathetic myth-expectation that sunflowers are yellow. The red one remains standing and looks elegant and we should be having more blossoming too. Lovely.

Mistakenly...

Our sunflower has blossomed. We were guilty of expecting a yellow sunflower to turn up and we could not help ourselves whispering "huh?..... when we saw the dark color of the flower we saw.

I still thought that it might turn yellowish the next day because I saw some yellow colors on the other side. I guess no. We've got ourselves a red sunflower and we are happy the proud parents! It's pretty! Haha.

One Tuesday Morning

The colors in the sky were just too good to let go. I could not help taking a snap or two and more...... of them. It was 6:47 AM. One fine Tuesday morning that led to heavy rain in the late afternoon...

The first picture was taken shortly after 7AM yesterday and the one at the very bottom was taken in less than two hours after. The flower blossomed fully for many hours. By the end of the day, it was all history..... I'm glad I captured its pictures. I still have know idea what this one is called, DH got it from our previous place. Anybody????

Daily Dose Of Zinnia

(today's picture)

It turned out that we are having a yellow Zinnia. Surprise!!!

(yesterday's picture)

We had very nasty weather yesterday morning, it was only up here, I believe it was caused by the location of the garden, which is behind a part of the building that causes the wind to become very strong when it comes from a certain direction. I know it is an epic failure for me to explain but take my words, it was super windy. The wind nearly knocked down most of the plants including zinnias. Thankfully, they survived and stood upright again, after being adjusted. The flower, continued blossoming.....
