Le Pain Quotidien, Wan Chai

It was our last day in Hong Kong and we found place to have proper breakfast that I had been missing.

We had Coconut Berry Muesli and Fritata of the day. The staff that waited on us did not know what it was that she had to go in and find out. Later on, I also found another staff that also had no clue of the flavor of the Fritata of the day. I guess, they don't get any briefing before the cafe was open or they did, but they di not pay attention. Or simply it was not mentioned. I definitely will respect the place better if the employees have the knowledge of this sort of things. Anyway, Fritata of the day was spinach and feta.

We also had coffee and green juice (no picture).

Steel Cut Oats Breakfast

This is definitely one of my favorite breakfasts. We had a short trip to Taipei over the new year and after we settled down back at home, this breakfast was so comforting. Ready or not, we are in 2017.

The steel cut oats were prepared with almond milk and simply topped with pomegranate seeds and berries.

Chia Pudding Breakfast

Chia pudding breakfast does not take much time to prepare, mainly because it is prepared the night before. What I need to do in the morning is chopping up the fruit and topping the pudding with whatever I want. And breakfast is ready. A fresh and healthy one.

Back To Oats

A week into 2016, I wanted to have oats for breakfast. This was steel cut oats, cooked with milk and water, topped with blackberries, strawberries, dried figs, cubed mangoes and granola and lastly, a dollop of peanut butter, which made everything in the bowl, a lot better.......

Granola Breakfast

I always like to have a more elaborate granola for breakfast. It is a bit too plain if I have granola with yoghurt alone, especially when time permits. I tend to eat fruits in the morning anyway. It's my ritual that is hard to break. So here is my granola breakfast.  I had it with pomegranate, raspberries, persimmon, dried figs, blueberries and mint leaves and sprinkled them with chia seeds for extra boost for health.

Black Rice Breakfast

This was my breakfast the other day. The black rice was cooked until they are almost porridge like, I personally like them al dente. I had them with a lot of cubed mangoes and berries and topped them with coconut milk and agave syrup. You can use honey, if you like.  That it. Now, start your day with the goodies.

Pancake With Homemade Mixed Berry Sauce

I had these pancakes a while ago, on the same morning when I decided that I should clear many of the frozen berries that I had in the freezer. Simultaneously, I prepared mixed berry sauce. That's just about all. They were great together and did not take too long to prepare.

Coconut Chia Pudding

My breakfast this morning was prepared last night. Easy and delicious, this was put together and kept in the fridge overnight, stirred a couple of times. In the morning, I took it out from the fridge and put whatever I want. Breakfast was ready, just like that.

I used coconut milk instead of almond milk that I normally mix in. It is creamy and tasty.

French Toast

When we have a big loaf of bread and we don't have enough people to eat it, we have leftover. I always like to use the leftover bread for making French toast for breakfast that I truly enjoy.

German Pancake

German pancake is quite easy to make but I don't make them often enough. Just like my other breakfast, I like to have them with many different fruits that I have. Mango is in season, so I had some of them on my pancake, along with some mixed berries.

Popover Breakfast

I like to make my popovers with cheese on top and have them for breakfast. With fruit as well. It takes a little time to bake popovers, but these babies and fruit make a yummy breakfast combination. Have a cup of coffee or tea on the side, it's more enjoyable.

Smoothie!

I had breakfast that tasted like dessert. This smoothie was made with frozen bananas, raspberries, strawberries and almond milk. Use a strong blender to blend them all. With a little bit of coconut milk on top and more raspberries, breakfast was ready in no time.
