Vegetarian Spaghetti...

Here comes the yummy and healthy part of Friday. It was another fast and abstinence day. Our (me and one kid) dinner was a light wholemeal spaghetti with the sauce made of mushroom, tomatoes and basil leaves from our garden (only the basil leaves that were from our garden!), which we got tons of, a little amount of cream and parmesan cheese, seasoned with salt and paper. It's quick and good. Try to make some!

PS: While this was my dinner, it was simply an appetizer for my growing teenager.

Here Comes The Witch!

It's a normal Saturday morning, a quiet one. But suddenly my peaceful morning was brought into a turn when the word "witch" was entered into a conversation. Here are several things about witch from wikipedia. A witch is a woman, whereas a man would be a "warlock", who practices Witchcraft.

Common ideas about witches:
During the early Modern Age, the (mostly Catholic) Church developed a whole set of teachings and beliefs about witches. These beliefs were centered around the following:

  1. Witches are able to fly around on brooms, sticks, animals, daemons, or using special ointments
  2. Witches meet with other witches, and with the devil on occasions called witches' sabbath.
  3. Witches have a pact with the devil
  4. Witches can use magic spells to do bad things to others
I guess that's why witches are deemed to look like this:

Any boss/teacher/colleague/nanny/former friend/mother that are called witch must be really horrible????!!!??? Really?

Mixed Fruits Smoothie

There's no orange in that smoothie aside from a pack of orange powder drink to enhance the taste, our combination consisted of carrots, red and green apples. When I have pear, I would throw in one too... It's delish to have in any hot afternoon, which only means nearly everyday in this country.

Then Come The Roses...

And.... our collection continued expanding with the arrival of these pink roses, compliment of a sister who came here with another sister and stayed for eight days at our house to solely focused on shopping. Their mission was accomplished! The roses, now, are ours. They are pretty additional member to our colorful garden. Thank you!

We Got Mint!

Not every nursery at the time we were visiting, had mint plants. When we went to one last Monday and the place happened to had a few in great condition, we just had to get one pot. They are adjusting to the nasty extreme heat and bright sun in our garden and are still doing well. Let's hope they survive.

Blueberry Pound Cake

The recipe was adapted from Paula Deen's Sour Cream Pound Cake, minus 1/3 of the sugar amount plus enough blueberries. I still find the cake a bit too sweet for my taste. The texture, however, was wonderful and the taste, was good too.

Full Moon

It was full moon last night, there was a celebration marking the eve of the last day of Lunar New Year. It was a learning experience (taking picture) and I have started getting some decent pictures.... Here's one of them.

From Morning Walk....

Had little walk with our two guests this morning along the river after the kids left for school. It was a cloudy morning, so even at after 7, the sun has not really shone.

Spotting a cat and more.....

Passing many bridges including one of my favorite ones...., the Alkaff brige.

Meatloaf!

We are having visitors and I was under a little pressure to provide dinners for them and the kids that, of course, have all different dinner timings. Yes, I planned it. Of course I plan. I soaked the bread in whole milk hours ago but I only had my start on this towards evening only. It all ended well, the dish was ready for everyone on time!

Color Change

The very same flowers changed color. The bottom picture was taken about three weeks ago and the yellow one was taken today. Interesting. But apparently, that happens. It is something new I learned today.
