In Twelve Days

In twelve days, my sunflower plants grew quite a bit, while Tiger Wood has become the numero uno world class wife cheater with double digit alleged mistresses. Anything could happen and once again we are reminded no to judge a book by its cover. Agghhh...

I read that in 8 weeks, the sunflower seed can grow into a 10-foot tall flower. If this is true, it is so OMG!!!! I will be so happy if they are half as big. I am aiming low. But I am excited. I have to move them to a more proper space with a more proper spacing, which I do not have. I am panicking, because I also read that once planted, they are not not supposed to be moved. I am in trouble.......

Shanghai Train

Late in October, shortly after we moved house, DH took his mom to Shanghai for a holiday. (He's really a good son indeed!) Unfortunately, he broke the lens of my SONY camera but manage to take many pictures that somehow I never got around to see all. I quit after seeing some because I was still too busy unpacking and organizing the house.

This evening, I started to dig again and found a couple shots that show how incredible the trains there. They are modern, fast and clean. Both my mother in law and DH enjoyed their trip from Shanghai to Hangzhou and back. I didn't get a chance to ride on one when we went there a few years ago. I love to revisit Shanghai. Such a great place!

To The Nursery We Go...

We have been going to the nurseries in the city quite a bit recently. At the beginning, it was done out of necessity. Later on, we started to fell more enjoyment in doing it.

First of all, when we moved in, our so-called garden was really sad looking. We were at the point of engaging someone to re-do the whole area. But we saw some plants being healthy looking , we saw there was a little hope for some sort of revival. At the same time, we prefer to do things on our own and appreciate the result of our effort, instead of paying someone to do the job.

There's a chance that the person that we engage, could do whatever he/she likes, without taking much of our preference into consideration. We learned this just recently, we had a rather unpleasant experience with the interior designer and the builder. We naively thought this country was filled with tons of professional people, more than those in Indonesia, the previous place where we learned our experience when we built our first house.

We thought we gave it a try first. We tried to nourish the existing ones and tried to look for some to fill in the blanks. Therefore we began searching for bags and bags of soil, pots and plants and do the best we can with our really little knowledge about gardening. We looked for some simple plants that are easy to grow and learn from that before moving into more challenging ones.

These are some of the plants that we saw at the nursery that we went to last weekend. We'd love to have some of them, especially those with colors other than green, but we will wait. We'd like to see how things develop first.

It's Snowing ....

There. In C'ville, Virginia. It snowed last night. Here are the pictures from Priscilla's blog, which I am confident, she would generously let me share here. Thanks you and I must say, I am so green with envy.

It has been raining miserably here, but definitely no snow, of course I woke up in the dark as my body alarm went off shortly after 5AM. Horrible habit. By the time the sun rose, the sky was just gray. Dull gray.... We are having a gray Sunday? I don't know that for sure as the weather could change 457 times during the day. Who knows?

I am waiting for the news of Tiger Woods' mistress number 4 as one of the bloggers wrote that the person would be revealed tonight, our time. Boy-oh-boy, Mr.Woods has been pretty busy.....

Enjoy the snow pictures!

Oatmeal Cookies

It was a nice cool afternoon and I finally find the right time to make the long awaited for, Oatmeal Cookies.

I like to have them as they are, i.e. plain. But I know that the two daughters would love to have some chocolate chips in there. So, I put some, not too generously, but they are there. The idea remains that they are Oatmeal Cookies. These are one of my favorite cookies. Hmmmmh....

Transgression

Well, Tiger Wood's apology using the word transgression has make the word a very popular search on Google. I am one of the guilty parties, because I really wanted to make sure that he indirectly admitted to the cheating charge. What he does is really none of my concern, but what happened shows that honesty is a lonely word, I can't disagree with Mr. Billy Joel. Even such a great athlete with all the money he has, a beautiful wife and two wonderful kids, still slipped, lied and cheated.

This brought back the memory of someone that I used to know. Except that he had little money, he was not an athlete and he didn't go to Stanford U, the way Tiger Wood did. He, however, is a jerk and an irresponsible man with multiple affairs and a big bully. It's a good thing that he is out of my life, although his former wife can't really completely cut him off because of their two kids. I don't know how he got to be so lucky to have married her for 10 years.

23 more days to my year end trip. I am looking forward to that! Happy thought!

Baked Fettuccine Bolognese

Let's start with putting fettuccine on a prepared pan and then layer them with bolognese sauce.

Sprinkle some grated mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheeses too.

Put a thinner layer of fettuccine on top of them.

Sprinkle with some bread crumbs, grated parmigiano reggiano, more cheddar cheese and some sliced butter.

Bake them in the preheated oven until the top becomes golden brown.

Ready to eat!!!! Call everyone, dinner is ready!

Some slices of homemade bread on the side would be great too. Bon appetit!

Now, we have lots of dishes to do.... thank God for the dishwasher! And thank Him for the food too!

Setting...

The sun was setting, seen through our kitchen window after I finished cleaning up the kitchen. Til another earth's rotation, I will see it again!

Come December ...

It's December again and we have 24 more days before Christmas. Our morning sky was really blue and the sun shone strongly that one could expect no rain for the day.

But rain did came at noon, rather heavily, but very short lived. Then sun came out again, brightly. It is so typical of the weather here, I could never tell how the day is going to really turns out.

The flowers and the leaves satisfy their thirsts for water and blossom prettily.

My sunflower plants are growing nicely too and they are looking great. I am excited to see them grow more. I am a proud momma indeed!
