Bread Sticks

Years back when we still lived in our first home in Singapore, when the children were still adorable ;), I used to bake this bread sticks for the kids and had them ready when they came home from school. I used the recipe from Better Homes and Gardens recipe book and mixed in some grated cheese as well as sprinkled more cheese on top.

Then I got to know No Knead Bread and I practically abandoned the recipe that uses egg and olive oil. I stayed on plain and straightforward bread. I used the basic dough that I have to make bread sticks too.

With all the kids being at home for the holiday, I started to think about this "old"recipe again and finally this afternoon, I made them again. Just like old times. They are even better now!  Nice memory too!

Jamie's Italian, Westfield London

We took Central Line Tube from near our hotel to Westfield in Shepherd's Bush, London. The mall is very big and has interesting shops. They also have many restaurants, one of which is Jamie's Italian. We planned to have lunch here after we browsed the mall a little bit, our reservation was 12:30PM.

We ordered their assorted bread to share. My main entree was Wild Truffle Risotto.

DH had Squid Ink pasta with Scallops which he enjoyed.

There are some shelves with Jamie's products near the entrance/exit.

Choco Cro From St. Marc

DH has been a big fan of this Chocolate Croissant from St. Marc in Vivocity. We managed to get a table last week after we had our lunch in Vivocity. We had, of course, these Choco Cro and coffee to accompany them. I am not quite converted yet though, but DH still loves it.

Panna Cotta

We had lunch at Arossa (previously called La Luna Rossa) and had Panna Cotta as the dessert of their set lunch. It would not be my first pick but it was a delicious one and I cleaned the whole serving. Yum. It was nicely served in a tall glass with raspberry and blueberry.

Gougères

Gougères (Cheese Puffs) have become one of my favorite things to make and to eat. I have been making them quite often these past months actually, I just did not have much interest in taking pictures of them. These little creatures are easy to make and really yummy. There are many similar recipes available on the net, one of them is here.

11 Years...

That's how long it has been since mom left to a better place, a place in which she does not have to feel the pains she suffered from having Parkinson's disease for more than 20 years.

There are days when I do not think of her much, but there are also days when I remember her and wish her being around and see how I am trying to survive in this world, with a husband and three girls. There are plenty of things that I wish I could share with her, mainly my happiness (I do not have the ability to share bad news with people that do not live with me, for now), and there are many trips that I wish I could take her along in person.

But. I always keep her in my heart at any time, any day any where I go. RIP!

Lunch At Med'z

For a long time, we wanted to eat at this Mediterranean restaurant called Med'z and we made it this week. It was lunch and i had Paella with fish. My company Miss L had Fish Tajine with couscous. For dessert, both of us shared Baklava with ice cream.

Around Trafalgar Square ...

The beauty of traveling with DH only is getting the freedom to walk about the city and explore whatever there is there to explore. DH likes to take taxi to wherever, but I tend to make him walk with me to reasonable distances. There is always so much to see when we walk and we have all the time in the world to stop and take as many pictures as we want and having nobody that comes along, rolling their eyes and complaining. Or laughing at us as if we were doing ridiculous stuff. We do what most people do when they travel, trying to have a good time and enjoy ourselves.

Having said that, our afternoon walk after visiting Covent Garden was to go to Buckingham Palace and we passed by The National Gallery and Trafalgar Square. That sunny afternoon, the square was packed with people. It was a fun time to take pictures.

Covent Garden

We visited Covent Garden in London when we were there. It was really a fun place to be with a lot of things happening. There are plenty of stalls, shops, bars, and street performers. We had a medium size of paella with chicken kebab. It was our little lunch. We also shared a plate of waffle with two scoop of butterscotch ice cream with chocolate sauce and enjoy a cup of coffee while watching people walking by.
