Chia Pudding

Two more das before we say goodbye to 2016. I ask the same thing like everybody asks, where did the time go?? Have I failed to treasure the days that have passed? It is hard to believe that the year that feels so new, is now nearly over. There have always been things to do, million things to chose from, if you desire that. I am happy that I don't have a day in which I get bored and have no clue on what I should do. I love most of everything that happened this year and I will do my best to forget the unpleasant things that took place.

I still have lots of love for chia pudding. It's a healthy but simple thing to prepare and there are so many variations to make. You can use any type of liquid, milk, chocolate flavor, matcha, vanilla, cinnamon sugar, etc. You can top the pudding with anything you like as well. Your imagination is the limit.

Christmas time is cookie time. I baked some almond cookies using Dorie Greenspan's recipe this year and this is a recipe to keep and remake indeed. Delicious and moreish!

Beast & Butterflies Lunch

This restaurant was opened recently in Robertson Quay area. We had lunch there not too long ago and had this Crispy noodles with lobster and sambal gravy. Despite its name, it was very mild in terms of spiciness. In my definition, sambal should be at least a little spicy.

We also tried their Duck crispies or basically wonton with duck fillings.

For dessert, we had their Extravaganza, which consisted of their four desserts, all were in their normal size. So, I say, they were too big and too much for the two of us. The yam brulee was our favorite followed by the mango and sticky rice.

Lei Garden, Macau

It's another meal in Macau, the one was not planned. It happened that we were in the shopping mall and saw this restaurant. We put our name down in the waiting list and had to wait a bit, it was past lunch time but the restaurant was very busy.

We did not order much, but we really enjoyed what we had. Fried rice was excellent and the sesame balls were fantastic.

Il Lumino, Macau

We were in Macau for a short getaway, this was back last month and was almost forgotten, because life has been so hectic. DH had booked a table for dinner in a new Italian restaurant in Studio City.

We started with their Fritto Misto and followed by our entrees Squid Ink pasta and Pan Seared Salmon. We also tried their pizza simply because we wanted to try. The crust was thin and cheese was too much and too overwhelming.

Crystal Jade Palace, Ngee Ann City, Lunch

This is one of the places that we frequent, because we like the food and we appreciate the service. Just the two us, DH and I,  having lunch, which I like. It gives me the freedom to take pictures as many as I want and as much time as I need without feeling pressured to get done quickly.

Senshu, Fairmont Jakarta

We had omakase with a couple of friends when we were in Jakarta earlier this month. It was basically straight to the restaurant upon landing as traffic was bad. The traffic is always bad in Jakarta. Whatever I planned to do in between arrival and lunch had to be cancelled, even my subsequent appointment had to be rescheduled. Distances are short but it always takes so much longer to reach places. That's Jakarta since as long as I can remember.

I put here some of the good pictures that I have taken, the last one being the dessert. The dessert was french toast that was way too rich and too sweet and a tad too big, especially after we had a bowl of too rich fried rice, that was topped with curry gravy. It's all too much for me.

Cocoa Oatmeal Balls

These Cocoa Oatmeal balls are simple to make and they are great healthy snacks or breakfast if you like, or both.

Ingredients:
10-12 medjool dates, removed the seed and slice
1 cup oatmeal
1/3 c coconut oil
1/3 c cocoa powder
1/2 c grated coconut
1 Tsp chia seeds
1/3 c grated coconut for final coating

Toast oatmeal with 1/2 of the coconut oil over medium heat, stir occasionally until they smell fragrant and toasty. Let them cool.

Process the oatmeal using a food processor, add sliced dates and process more. They do not have to be very smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and mix using the food processor until they come together. Roll into balls and roll them in grated coconut to coat.

Shin Kushiya Lunch

DH and I were in Vivo City and it happened to be lunch time. We were looking for sushi and decided to revisit Shin Kushiya.  We tried a new item i.e soft shell crab salad roll (third picture from the top) and it was quite nice. It is easy to pick up and it is a healthy dish, minus the crab.

Putien Lunch

Back in September, we revisited Putien for lunch. I basically let DH order whatever he wanted and this were what we ended up with.

The first one was Pan fried yellow croakers that were sliced into smaller pieces, in their menu, the fish was shown as a whole. The dessert was complimentary as a couple of the dishes that we originally wanted to order were not available.

Baked Oatmeal With Berries

I love baked oatmeal and berries make it even more delicious. In this, I added grated coconut and pumpkin seeds, the oats were mixed with maple syrup and that brought it to another yummy level.

Sourdough Galette With Blueberries and Peach

Time for galette. Now that I have my own sourdough starter, I made the crust using the sourdough as well. I love the flavor of the crust, it's different than the normal crust that I have. The filling is a mix of blueberries and sliced peaches and the two makes such a wonderful combination.

Garibaldi Brunch

This was from last month when we managed to have four family members in the country and had the time to have a Sunday brunch together.

Garibaldi was someone's pick and I just followed along. It was like a feast, or it was really a feast. There was so much food and they were mostly enjoyable. The meal ended with a tray of desserts.
