Ice Chendol

We went to Suntec City yesterday to check out what they have after the renovation. Our pick for lunch after going around the Fountain of Wealth was Crystal Jade Kitchen and we then decided to try dessert from a place called All Things Nice. It is also located in the basement level of Suntec City. The above is their Signature Chendol, $5.50.

Boon Tong Kee Chicken Rice

We had takeaways from Boon Tong Kee yesterday. It's a delicious late lunch for merely $4.80 per set. I love its chilli sauce the best and I had no dishes to wash. Life is good.

Tea & Scones

I got the mug from Anthropologie in Selfridges when we were in London last August and am loving it more and more since I brought them home and started using it. I love the design and I love the size. The tea is my favorite Jasmine tea from TWG, Singapore. The cheese Scones were made by yours truly. Eat them warm and they were wonderful.

Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen

We went back to Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen at Liang Court for lunch. This time, there were four of us and we tried more different dishes. DH stuck on his favorite, Shoyu Ramen.

Miss K, who is currently a vegetarian (we'll see how long this last) had a bowl of fried rice served on hot stone, no pork or any meat, so it was practically garlic fried rice, I would think.

We had a palte of Gyoza, which probably was part of a set. I can't remember exactly which one it was.

I ordered their Kazan Curry  which was in a way like Ramen with Curry Sauce. This dish came with a bowl of white rice. It was absolutely too much for one person like me, to say the least.

Everyone declined when they were offered dessert, but since there were four of us, I took the liberty to order their attractive looking dessert anyway,  Mango with ice cream. When the dessert came, everyone sampled it. It was interesting and I am glad that I tried. It's alright but I do not think I will have it again in the future. It's a big serving.

Wahaca White City Lunch

We do not normally go to Mexican restaurant for a meal although once in a (big) while, we do it. We saw many Wahaca restaurants around London and we thought of trying their dishes. This Wahaca is located along the Sheperd's Bush Westfield terrace. Each of us ordered different dishes and we tried to sample each other's and in general they all tasted good. The above is their GBP8.95 Fish Tacos and below is GBP9.95 Fish Ala Pimienta.

I can't remember exactly what the children ordered below but to my best recollection, nobody complained about the taste. We ended the meal by trying their Churros dessert, served with Chocolate Sauce. It was a good meal, I remember that the fish that ate jumped out of the taco and the sauce messed my white blouse. After the meal, I had to find a new shirt from one of the shops at the mall and changed my outfit after I got it. All good!

Cha Cha Cha Lunch

After 15 years consecutively living in this country, I finally had a meal in Cha Cha Cha, Holland Village. I had always wanted to sample their dishes since my early years here, but for various reasons which included not having a company to dine with, not actively pursuing the intention and simply did not care enough, I never made it there. Until Tuesday last week.

The place itself is not spectacular, the food is average and the service is somewhere between bad and okay. There's a waiter that didn't seem to care about the customers and there was a nicer one that served us later. Like in many other restaurants around.

One of us had the above Mushroom Burrito and down below is Chicken Quesadilla.

I had Chimichanga (right below) and one of us ordered Prawn Burrito. They all are reasonably acceptable and this is likely to be a place to go to for Mexican food in town. As for service .... it's pretty much this way in this city. I am quite used to with not expecting extraordinary service from most of the restaurants around here in the recent years. There's always a 10% service charge imposed iregardless the type of service we get, and another 7% GST.

Ciabatta

I stopped making Ciabatta for a long while,  am not sure why. We bought from various places. For whatever reason, I thought about making them again and they turned out delicious.

Mini Bundt Cakes

I made these mini bundt cakes using Madeleine recipes. They are larger than the normal Madeleine size therefore it was faster to finish (making).

Zizzi, Wigmore St.

There's a Zizzi Restaurant near Hyatt Churchill where we stayed when we were in London. We thought of having a meal there one late afternoon. More than filling our stomach, we wanted to sample the food they had. The four of us tried a bit of everything, including a plate of salad and pizza.

Borough Market, Part 2

Borough market is all about food for us. So many gorgeous ones and one could only wish that you could have them all. Baklava, fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, cheese, .... these are just some.

Hokkaido Milk Bread

I am into trying new methods or techniques in preparing food to get better results, as long the methods are not too complicated. I want simple things to improve life or have a little fun. This one is a result of my sister wanting to have a recipe that yields a good and soft bread using her brand new Kenwood bread maker. I thought of Hokkaido Milk bread and stumbled into a method that uses roux. The result is an extremely soft and delicious bread. I made it with cheese filling. I don't have a bread maker so I made it the conventional way, using my mixer, my hand and my oven! :)

Lunch, Borough Market

We had a plan to eat Fish and Chips when we were in London. A few days had gone by and we did not have the opportunity yet. When we were at Borough market, we saw a restaurant that offers Fish and Chips on their menu, the restaurant was called Fish!. It was one of the first few restaurants we saw because we had not explored the place much. We knew there were plenty of food sellers all around so the four of us merely ordered two dishes to share. The first one was Fish and Chips above and Calamari. I saw a website with super terrible review about the restaurant, but I found the place and the food to be just fine.
