Il Gran Bar Lavazza, Chicago

It was tea time for the two of us when we were in windy Chicago. We decided to try a couple of desserts from the cafe in Eataly. The above is their Tiramisu and the drinks we had were soda and decaffeinated Mocha. Below is their Chocolate Cake, I can't remember the details, unfortunately. I basically enjoyed my Mocha drink more than the others.

Nobu, Las Vegas

When we were in Las Vegas in August last year, we had dinner at Nobu. There were four of us and we managed to get quite a good variety of dishes. The food was better than expectation and I could not be happier.

Brunch At Wildberry, Chicago

Lots of people say and write that this is a must-try place for pancakes and we felt compelled to go. We needed to eat anyway. We started the day so late. We were both tired from traveling and walking. By the time we arrived, it was nearly 12. There was a short line and we waited a good 15-20 minutes, which was not too bad.

I had small Wildeberry Orange Juice while DH had a cup of coffee. The cup came in the form of big mug. Woo!

Ahead of time, I planned to order one sweet and one savory dishes for both of us to try. So we had Signature Berry Bliss Pancake above and Rutherford Omelette below. The Pancakes came with Vanilla Anglaise, Blackberry Coulis, Berry Mascarpone and fresh berries. The Omelette had baby spinach, caramelized onions, goat cheese and bacon and came with a serving of hashbrown. All were BIG. We could not finish but we were happy to have tried the famous pancakes in Chicago.

At Millenium Park, Chicago

It was a beautiful day in Chicago and we took a walk to Millennium Park and took some pictures there.  Here are some of them.

Dinner At Eataly, Chicago

We flew to Chicago from San Francisco at the end of last month. It had been a few years since we visited this beautiful city. Our hotel is along the Magnificent Mile and not far from Great Lake. I.e. Windy and cold. But beautiful. Jackets, boots and everything we had to keep us warm were all out.

Our first dinner there was at Eataly. We had to wait a little bit before we got our table. It was Sunday, at dinner time. Understandably, the place was rather packed.

I had Ravioli for my Entree. It was good, but it's not quite my favorite, simply because I am not really a pasta person that accompanied a pasta lover eating in a pasta place.

We had a white pizza to share and I picked Norcina.

DH had Squid Ink Pasta with Seafood that looked good and tasted delicious, according to him. Definitely the three dishes were too much for us even though we were very hungry when we began to sit there. As usual, we overestimated our stomach capacity.

Lunch At Scala's

Scala's Bistro on Powell St. is rather an easy pick for DH to have a meal. I no longer am too excited about the place but felt a bit indifferent. We were in San Francisco, we stayed in a nearby hotel and the restaurant was just a block away. Why not? I could not think of any other place to go at that moment.

DH went for Linguini with clams and I picked Cobb Salad. Big portion for me.  We ended the meal with a cup of Cappuccino.

Painted Ladies, Alamo Square

After several visits to San Francisco, over many years, finally we made it to Painted Ladies by Alamo Square. It is one of the most photographed locations in San Francisco and it is for the right reason. These houses are beautiful and have been featured in many movies.

From the Alamo Square where these pictures were taken, we were able to see tall buildings in the Financial District too. We went on a beautiful day, although the wind was rather fierce and my allergies acted up.

Coco Curry, Roppongi

Our last day in Tokyo and we had to go to Airport. We did not have much time for lots of things and DH had agreed to go with me to have lunch in Coco Curry near our hotel in Roppongi area. I tried fried chicken for the first time. I think I still prefers my usual Chicket Cutlet.

DH order a burger curry. The burger had an egg in the center. He also order vegetables to make his meal healthier. (Sure!)

There was a picture of the dessert they had. We could not figure out what it was. The waiter, with her limited English, could not quite express what it was in English. We ordered anyway and it turned out to be some sort of jelly with maybe, Yuzu.

Then DH saw the picture of the dish that I pointed to him and told him I wanted on our first visit to Coco in Tokyo. He also wanted to try. It was ridiculous, we were full, so full, but he still ordered anyway. The waiter suggested a half size and we excitedly agreed. This turned out to be better than the two dishes we ordered earlier. Such a great lunch!

Mikaku Lunch, San Francisco

We arrived in San Francisco earlier than expected. After getting settled into our hotel room, we headed to nearby Mikaku for lunch, a place that we are quite familiar with. We had some Sashimi and sushi. Salad and soup were complimentary. In a short time, our hunger was taken care of. Yum.
