At Paradise Inn!

After graduation ceremony, came the day for us to send our graduate to go off on.... holiday with friends. So to Changi airport we went last Sunday. It was dinner time and Changi has a large selection of restaurants. The oldest terminal, Terminal 1, has recently refurbished and has many new places to dine.

DH decided on trying Paradise Inn, as the rests of us were indifferent as to what we felt like eating. It's a Cantonese restaurant, apparently it is a part of the Paradise Group which has many other restaurants around. This is a new thing that we learned that night.

First of all, please forgive the poor quality pictures, they were taken using my Nokia mobile. I don't normally carry around my SLR, while my small Sony camera is on loan. It was the best I could do under the circumstances.

The menu has very lovely pictures of delicious looking dishes that we like and we tried a few. I don't remember the name but basically this one was Mantao with braised pork belly. Delicious!

Another yummy dish that we had was sweet and sour chicken with capsicum. There was very little capsicum found, but the sauce was superb and the chicken was crispy and crunchy.

It is worth mentioning here that one of their signature dishes, Hot Plate Tofu with Preserved Cai Xin was one of the better one among those that I have had around here.

I am seriously considering trying their other restaurants, there are a few of them nearby our place here. Yes, I like it that much!

Thai Spring Chicken!

We had dinner at Bangkok Jam last Saturday. It's a restaurant that we had never been, so I was quite excited to try. Aside from our usual orders of Pad Thai, Fish Cakes and Green Curry Chicken, we had this whole Spring Chicken cooked with Thai Herbs. The chicken was tender and quite tasty and the sauces were wonderful too. The worst part of the whole experience was the service. The drinks only came after the the first course arrived and was eaten and the waiter was reminded that they had not arrived. The tapioca dessert that we ordered took a long time and many reminders before it came. And it was not good! Oh, well, that's our experience!

Still Living...

Many weeks ago, I moved the Hibiscus plant from my mother in law to a bigger container, I had all the intention in the world to give the plant a great and larger place to grow. Somewhere along the process, I might have damaged some of the roots. For many days and more, the plant looked like was going to go down. I was worried. But apparently it was a tough chick indeed, the new leaves grew and the flowers bloomed again. Horray!

Fallen

We were walking home along the river the other day when we saw this small tree on the ground. What a shame! The recent strong wind must have been the culprit.

Four-In-One

Miss K and I went out for some dress shopping this afternoon. She needed a dress to attend her sister graduation. Our previous attempt to get one failed last week. I personally saw no hope as I knew, many different stores sell similar if not the same items. She also needed to get her friend a birthday present. Off we went after we had lunch with grandma.

DH asked us buy his favorite bread from a bread store at Ion, for his mother. While we were there, the bread above caught my eyes and called my name. I know that one of the corners has raisins. As for the rests, I could only guess. My curiosity was big enough that it triggered me to buy one. It's $6 for four slices, not cheap, huh?

Marmalade Again...

I took a different family member this time. We went there before 12 , after church, but before our planned shopping. My third time in their new premise was a charm, I got to have the dessert, a slice of Lemon Meringue Cake, and a cup of Cappuccino. Of course I had them shared and that was after we had our meal.

This time, I wanted to try something smaller than what I normally had there and went to their Quiche Lorraine with Leek and Canadian Bacon. However, I did not find both the salad and the quiche to be appealing to my taste. I like the presentation. My companion this time was Miss K, she had Avocado Caesar Wrap with Vegetable Chips. Hers, I found out, was tastier than my pick.

I Did Not Know...

Yes, that little thing that I marked with red arrow is my Miss K. She was on school trip over the break at the end of March. That looks scary to me and I'm not sure if I would allow her to go up, had I known that ahead of time. I found that out as I just got the pictures from school and had a look at them. I know for sure that she had a blast going there. Whatever. It's done. She's back home happy and safe.

Sometimes It Pays....

I ordered iPad 2 online immediately once I found out that they were available in the country, because I refused to waste my time lining up for the item. It's so hard to get me out of the door these days. Terrible. Anyway, that was on 29 April. Last week, I received the case that I ordered on the same day, but the I am still waiting for the iPad that is scheduled to arrive on 18 May.

I learned that iPad 2 were all sold out within the same day of its launch and apparently they are no longer available online as well since.... maybe some days ago???? I'm so glad I got mine ordered. Sometimes it's rewarding to be decisive and act immediately. Of course, it is good to weight in important factors before making a decision. As for iPad2, it's easy to decide. Now, back to waiting.

New Blooms..

I don't know the name of the plant, I see them around in this city. I got mine a couple of months ago from my mother in law when it was rather a tiny plant, now the plant has produced pretty flowers.

Simple Lunch...

We ran some errands last Saturday and after we finished buying our groceries at Triple One, we decided to try one of the restaurants there. It's called Imperial Treasure Windows. We ordered at the counter and paid, then we sat and waited for the food to be delivered. It's almost like dining at food court, with the prices slightly higher. DH had rice with soy Chicken and Roast Duck (above) and I had noodles with beef brisket. Presentation wise, they did not look attractive and they tasted just alright. I doubt if I want to return there in the future.

White Surprise

It was a nice surprise to see a white periwinkle blooming in the garden. I did not have it before and gladly welcome the nice addition.

Ramen Lunch At Miharu

I like to have Ramen, but I don't like have it too often, especially when it is hot and humid around. Unlike DH who frequents Miharu Sapporo Ramen quite a bit. First of all, it is his favorite Ramen place, and second, it takes under five minutes to walk there from our place. It's too convenient.

Last Saturday, we had a perfect weather for having Ramen. I woke up to a cool morning and the weather remained nice and cool during the day. I gladly joined DH for lunch at Miharu. Both of us asked the waiter not to put corn in our Ramen, we just do not like the combination. He had fish-based Ramen (above) and I had miso-based one.

We also shared some Gyoza. As always. I was unable to clean up the bowl. It was too too much, again.

Back to Marmalade...

I was back at Marmalade Pantry again last Saturday. This time, my partner in crime was DH. It's normally a little challenging to get him to dine in a new place, but this time, he obliged rather easily.

I wanted to try something that I had not had before, at the same time I wanted something on the healthier side. Based on my previous visits, I knew that they serve a rather big size of salad, this one was no exception. The waiter confirmed that my Wild Rice salad was a full meal. The salad was a mix of wild rice, granny smith, cranberries served on char-grilled zucchini with mixed herbs dressing. The size was too big help for me and I got help from my companion.

DH hardly goes to the places that he is not familiar. He likes linguini and he stuck to it. He had Crab meat Linguini. The noodles were served with tomato, pine nuts and chili. I could taste some Asian flavor in it. We were tempted to get some desserts but could not decide on what we wanted, but agreed on a cup of Cappuccino each. When the bill came, we found out that DH's friend that we met at the restaurant, had picked up the tab and what left unpaid was only our Cappuccino. An unexpected treat. Thanks, J!
