Soccer Match In Old Trafford

Yes. We put ourselves on a 13-hour flight to London and took another 2-hour train to Manchester in the middle of cold Spring weather to watch a soccer match. We watched the game in Old Trafford, in Greater Manchester, the famous home of Manchester United. The stadium has the capacity of more than 75,000 people.

For some soccer fans, this match was an important and interesting one that makes 15-hour trip almost means nothing.  This match was between Manchester United and Manchester City. Watching it live would be an extraordinary experience for any fans. Not quite for me but it was so much more for DH, since he is a super fan of Manchester United. I, no longer have much interest in soccer since I have kids.....

Fans of the game can be really passionate, they wear their club jerseys, sing their songs and whatever that show support for their clubs. We tried to come early, more than 30 minutes before the start but in no time the stadium was filled up. We saw many policemen and security people around. Everywhere. That gave me a better sense of feeling safe in the midst of some 75,000 people soccer fans there. Nobody knows what could happen when people are so passionate about the opposite things being in the same place at the same time.

I thought it would be such a long time to arrive at the end of the match, but that was the two-hour period that went away quite quickly. The fans sang, cheered, called, yelled ..... almost continuously. What a feeling! I had a good time although I must say I dislike being in the cold and I wish there were a better transport to get back to the hotel. Nevertheless, it's nice to be able to say that we made it!!

Greek Yoghurt Cake

We had rather plenty amount of Greek Yoghurt with approaching expiry date and to speed up the usage, I look around for some new cake recipe that uses Greek Yoghurt. To my surprise, there are plenty. I chose one from Martha Stewart. There are others that are similar or exactly the same too. This cake has a texture similar to pound cake and tastes delicious. A keeper!

Stonehenge

We visited Stonehenge when we were in England earlier this month. It is one of the must go places there and we only managed to see the place after we went to the UK a couple of times. Stonehenge is estimated to be more than 3000 years in existence, one of the greatest icons of the country. I have seen it and I am glad!

My lunch this Friday was Fried Prawn Curry at Coco Ichibanya in Somerset. It’s no-meat Friday, so I stayed away from my favorite, Chicken Katsu. I also opted less rice ($1 less), but my plate still looked sad with only two prawns. After service and tax, I paid around $13.50 for that simple meal.

Bath

We went to bath, England nearly two weeks ago. Bath is about two hours west of London. It is one of the most beautiful towns I have seen. These are some pictures of Bath. The above is River Avon and below are some pictures of the town.

Roman Bath

Bath was our first stop when we joined the tour that day. The stop took us to Roman Bath, a well-preserved Roman site for public bathing. It is a historical landmark and the most popular tourist attraction in Bath. An excellent audio set was given to use as we walk around the premise. The place is beautifully preserved.

Bath Abbey

Bath Abbey is located within the vicinity of Roman Bath, our destination that day. On that particular morning, the sky was blue, the weather was so fine, a wonderful day that many people in England had waited for a long time to come. Two days earlier, we had rain and snow shower. Yup, snow shower in April! Pictures turned our very beautifully. More on Bath Abbey here and here!

Evening Nibbles

It was cocktail time at the lounge in the hotel, right after we arrived in London and checked into our hotel. It was nice and refreshing after such a long 13-hour flight.

Dull

We were hoping that by the time we were in London early in April, the weather would have been warmer and the sun would appear a little more. Just like the hope of many other visitors and Londoners, I would think. Of course the weather had not been too kind, it was still cold at around low single digit Celsius and it was simply dull. It just won't prevent us from making the best out of the situation.

At Paddington Station...

We landed at Heathrow airport  right on on time. Everything went smoothly, while the bags took a little longer to arrive at the conveyer belt. We then took Heathrow Express to Paddington Station, merely 15 minutes. We still needed to take taxi to our hotel. Not bad!

Salmon Or Cod?

During the flight, I chose Cod fish for lunch. When the flight attended served the meal, I was in confusion for a short while as the fish looked like salmon. I thought...??..... What did I order?? (because I am in general not too crazy of salmon...!) It was really Cod fish, the color of the sauce made it look like salmon! :)

To London...

I love taking pictures from the window of my seat on the plane. I particularly love seeing the cloud and the blue sky. We were heading to London....

Seafood Dinner At Sedap Malam

Sedap Malam is one of DH's favorite places in Jakarta and he really wanted me to try their food. Our driver told us that a new branch near our place had been opened and I could not be happier. I really dislike having to go far away just for food. I rather settle with something from any nearby places. Jakarta's traffic is just not for me. DH picked a medium size crab and had it cooked with black pepper. It was spicy and tasty and so full of crab roe..... it was outstanding.

We had a plate of Kangkong, simple and nice to accompany the rest of the dishes.

A fish cooked with Singapore sauce, whatever that was, it was delicious as well.

I guess, we might as well ordered Shrimp, since we were there already. I opted them stirred fried in butter and soy sauce. They were so good. The food was way too much for just the two of us but I think it's a place that I'd like to come back when I get a chance too. I need to figure out the cholesterol problem though! ;)
