Oatmeal Breakfast

Just a simple warm oatmeal breakfast that I made with almond milk.  Mind you, what you put on the top make the difference. This time, I had strawberry, blueberries, cherries and dried figs. I also sprinkled them with grated coconut, chia seeds and cacao nibs. Breakfast was ready.

Union Jacks, Covent Garden

We went back to Covent Garden just to see what we could see and to have lunch at Jamie Oliver's Union Jacks. Miss K picked salmon on a bed of salad.

DH ordered Fish and chips and we decided to share the dish, because we also ordered pizza.  I had my eyes on Union Mule and decided to give a try.

We also had a pizza to share.

For dessert, Miss K had her eyes on Meringue with fruits, cream and praline and we all shared it.

Waffles For Breakfast

Once in a while, I like to have waffles at home, a healthier type like these wholemeal ones. Pan seared bananas are always preferred, with mixed berries and some Maple syrup and coconut cream. Just loving this combo!

Skinny Pizza Dinner

One evening after attending church, we had dinner at Skinny Pizza. Our first option (restaurant) had a little line and we didn't want to wait. The four of us shared two dishes, both were rather big in terms of size. We had the above Pumpkin Pizza and Black Pepper Prawn Linguine. I was still in need for food so I tried their Hot Dog. I believe it's called Sunday Roast. Nothing special, all are a bit pricey.

Le Pain Quotidien, Covent Garden

We ended up in Covent Garden that afternoon and saw Le Pain Quotidien sign. Having heard of this place before, we decided to have some Cappuccino and a slice of something sweet. We picked Tarte Tatin with cream to share. They were alright, not particularly make us want to go back for more, so that was it. We might try their meals one day.

Four Season CS

It's almost a must that we eat in this Chinese restaurant in China town in London when we are in town. Just to get it over with, we went when Miss K was away in Ashbourne as not only Chinese food was not her favorite and she was still a vegetarian.

We did not order their famous roast duck, but we had their roast chicken and roast pork. They are super yummy. Writing about this make me hungry all over again. How I wish eating roast pork were good for health. :( Wishful thinking, I know.

Just the two of us, so we could not order too much. We also had a bowl of dumpling soup and claypot eggplant with minced meat. They were great as well. How can we stay away?

Crepe Breakfast

It does not take a long time to make crepes, these are wholemeal crepes made with almond milk and were filled with yogurt, homemade blueberry sauce and more fresh blueberry. So fresh and delish.

Busaba Lunch

It was the day after Miss K left for Ashbourne, there were just the two of us in London and million others that we don't know. DH decided that we should eat in Busaba again. It's our third time in four days.  No surprise, DH likes this place SO MUCH. This time, he agreed on ordering dishes that we had not tried before. Mostly.

I had iced ginger tea and DH ordered lemonade to start. DH had been eyeing on Fried Chicken with pandan leaves since he saw a couple of people that ate in our communal table had them on our first meal there, so we had a plate of them too this time.

We also had a salad that we had not tried before, called Yum Sam Som. It was supposed to have blood orange, but I didn't see it there. The salad had pomelo, coconut, red chili, dried shrimp and shallot. The salad was nice and refreshing.

Our crabmeat egg fried rice is below. It was reasonably good. Mild and fair, nothing too exciting about it.

It seemed that we were having a big appetite, so we also ordered Cod Stir Fry, because DH wanted too.   The dish turned out to be fried Cod fish, stir fried with ginger and a few other condiments.  Not bad at all.

Yah, we were stuffed! So stuffed!!

Jamie's Italian Lunch

It was Sunday, our second day in London. After church in the morning, we did a little shopping along Oxford St then headed to Shepherd's Bush for lunch. Our destination was Jamie's Italian (again!!).

First, we had a couple of starters to share among the three of us. The above is our usual order, Baked Chestnut Mushrooms and below is Arancini Margherita.

I tried their Rossini Spritz, i.e. Prosecco with red berry purée. No biggie.

What I like best was my Main, Porchetta, which was pork belly with herbs & garlic, fennel crackling & wild mushrooms. It was really good and tender. Yum!

Miss K chose Ricotta dumplings with sage, lemon & Parmesan butter while DH had Crab Spaghetti. We could not order desserts because they stopped taking order after Westfield mall was evacuated due to suspicious package. So that's how it ended.

Inflight Breakfast - En Route to London

Our flight to London at the end of last month was scheduled for 9:05AM. Of course by the time we boarded, we had had some breakfast of this and that at the airport lounge. But once we were up in the air and we saw the menu, we, or I , simply could not resist to try. I always want to see how they are presented and taste.

Breakfast began with a fruit platter, looking quite nice but most of them were not ripe. I had to leave most of them uneaten.

For starter, I chose Birchir Muesli, that turned out to be the best one I have ever had. I wish  knew the brands they used.

As for the main, I selected crepe with lobster, crab and prawn on a bed of asparagus, with gratin potatoes and cherry tomatoes. It was okay but it would not be something that I would order again, besides, I was convinced that I had more than enough food in my stomach until the next meal, many hours later.

Chocolate Date Balls

These healthy snacks are made from mostly Medjool dates and chocolate powder with a little bit of almond and cocoa nibs.

Wholemeal Pancakes With Pan-Seared Banana

I had homemade wholemeal pancakes for  breakfast sometime ago. The pancakes were drizzled with salted caramel sauce.  On the side was pan-seared banana and mixed fruit. Simple and wonderful.

Guacamole

We had many ripe avocados at home and thought of using them to make one of our favorites, Guacamole. We had it with tortilla chips and it is good for sandwich too.

Barramundi Dinner

I had a piece of frozen baramundi left and pan-seared it a dinner for myself. The sauce was the leftover from cooking the fish with wholegrain mustard and cream. On the side is Tuscan salad with orange, tomatoes and radish, dressed with balsamic vinegar dressing.
