Tazumura Tonkatsu Daimaru, Osaka

For dinner, we picked a place from the restaurants in Daimaru Umeda's 14th floor gourmet dining section. We are staying near Osaka Station and we did not really want to go far. Prior to flying Osaka, we had two trips to Malaysia within the same week and we were exhausted.

We decided to start with Tonkatsu, we had confidence that they would be prepared well in the restaurant that we picked. Both dishes turned out to be so juicy, tender and delicious.

Back To Aoki, Lunch

This time the three of us went to Aoki for lunch. We ordered one Omakase lunch and two ala carte dishes plus an extra eggplant dish. We love the sushi and others but can't say the same about the eggplant.

Anzu At Japan Food Town, Singapore

A while back, we took an evening walk along Orchard rd without planning to have dinner but somehow, of course, we got hungry, because we had not had dinner yet. We ventured to the newly opened Japan Food Town in Wisma Atria and reached a mutual decision to try tonkatsu at Anzu, Ginza. We got a table on the spot, it was not crowded.

I had Gin-Jo Pork Fillet Katsu Set and DH had Fried Shrimp Katsu Set. All were superb and the service was great too. It is definitely a place that we can go back again.

Senshu, Fairmont Jakarta

We had omakase with a couple of friends when we were in Jakarta earlier this month. It was basically straight to the restaurant upon landing as traffic was bad. The traffic is always bad in Jakarta. Whatever I planned to do in between arrival and lunch had to be cancelled, even my subsequent appointment had to be rescheduled. Distances are short but it always takes so much longer to reach places. That's Jakarta since as long as I can remember.

I put here some of the good pictures that I have taken, the last one being the dessert. The dessert was french toast that was way too rich and too sweet and a tad too big, especially after we had a bowl of too rich fried rice, that was topped with curry gravy. It's all too much for me.

Shin Kushiya Lunch

DH and I were in Vivo City and it happened to be lunch time. We were looking for sushi and decided to revisit Shin Kushiya.  We tried a new item i.e soft shell crab salad roll (third picture from the top) and it was quite nice. It is easy to pick up and it is a healthy dish, minus the crab.

Tonkatsu Lunch at Ma Maison

Pork Cutlets, here we come. We made it to a tonkatsu restaurant in Singapore. We tried to beat the crowd by coming early, before 12PM, to Ma Maison in Mandarin Gallery.  DH picked a combination of meat and prawn while mine (the picture at the very bottom) was Kurobuta Rosu Katsu (160 gr). Reasonably delicious and would not mind to go back.

Ichiban Boshi Lunch

This was from a while ago. Our Plan A for lunch could not be executed because we had to wait 45 minutes for the table. I hate waiting for food, no matter how good the food is. There are so many other restaurants, there's no reason to wait for one that did not have a table for us immediately.

We went to Ichiban Boshi in Great World City instead, keeping our finger crossed that there was no line. It was past 1PM, technically it was still busy lunch time. We got a table there. Here are our choices. Kurobuta Uni Udon and steamed fish.

First Lunch In Sapporo, Jinbei

By the time we checked in into our hotel in Sapporo and got organized a bit, it was lunch time. We were hungry, but every place seemed to have long lines of people waiting to get a table. We finally picked a random place that offered chirashi don and had our meal there.

Eat Tokyo, London

We decided at the last minute that we were going to have two lunches. Our original place for lunch was Eat Tokyo. DH and I arrived early so we walked around and it took us to China town and to a restaurant that DH always likes to have a meal at, Four Seasons. Like an aha moment, he now wanted to have both sushi and roasted meat.

With limited space in our stomach capacity, we did not order much at Eat Tokyo. We also had a plate of Tempura, but I had no picture of it.

Tatsuya Lunch

Saturday morning and I woke up early. Really early, it was actually just after 4AM. I had so many ideas and thoughts so early in the morning. I wish I could write them down, but I was too sleepy to grab my phone and type up my thoughts. When I finally got up, it was after 6. It was still early. We then mad a plan to drive to Bedok to get noodles for breakfast.

Forward to lunch time. I don't know why I mentioned the word "Tatsuya", which immediately triggered DH to propose lunch there. It was not a proposal actually, as he insisted on having lunch there because we had not been there for a long while and started calling the restaurant to get a table. Reservation was made and we got ready. Off we went to Scotts rd.

I knew ahead of time that I was getting a bowl of Chirashi don, a small one, because I was not too hungry. It was really smallish, delicious and outrageously pricey at $150 before tax and service charge.

DH, being a sushi lover, chose sushi bento, which was such a bargain compared to the one I chose.

All good. happy tummy, happy us.

Lunch At Fat Cow

I am pleased when we try a new place to have a meal and their food turn out to suit our taste well. This is one of those.  Fat Cow is about beef, so I chose Foie Gras and Wagyu beef (Fat Foa-gura don). DH chooses sushi, because he likes sushi and he does not want to eat much beef. Whatever.

Both of us picked their set lunch and the meal began with salad, miso soup and chawan sushi. I love the dressing of the salad and the soup, but there's not much love for their chawan sushi, just not my kind.

They also gave us a plate of momotaro sashimi salad (tomato salad) which was super delicious. The sliced tomatoes were fresh and sweet and the dressing was very nice and refreshing. I could have more of this.

As part of the set lunch, we had honeycomb ice cream for dessert, which was superb as well. We had an extra bonus of mochi that was equally delicious.
