Clearing Up

Although it maybe temporary, I am glad that the haze has been clearing up. I can see the buildings again and I feel better again that going out is no longer too bad for health.

Haze Hovers ..

The haze in Singapore was so bad that the PSI reading reached 401 at noon today. We practically could not see the buildings around ours. All looked dirty white and I could smell the smoke outside. Thankfully, things improved in the day.

A New Hobby

(screenshot of NEA website)

With the haze covering the island over the past days, I have a new hobby like many other Singapore residents. I have become rather obsessive with refreshing the page of NEA website to find out the PSI (Pollutant Standard Index) number. The number has hit a historical high of 371 this afternoon, which was a level considered hazardous. It has come down a bit this evening, but it is still far away from a healthy to moderate number (below 99).

Wholemeal Blueberry Muffins

I have been making muffins a lot. Really, a lot! My customer is mainly Miss L who is so deeply in love with muffins. She is quite easy to please with all sort of muffins. In the recent days, I made Apple and Cheese muffins, Double Chocolate muffins, Peach muffins and in these pictures are Wholemeal Blueberry Muffins.

All White!

Haze has been covering the tiny island where we are living, visibility is nearly zero from our place. We are not able to see the Marina Bay Sands that normally standing pretty far across from where we are. The haze is again courtesy of fires on Indonesian island, Sumatra. It's all white as far as we can see.

Lunch At Pepper Steakhouse & Bistro

Pepper Steakhouse & Bistro is practically located within minutes, on foot, from our house, but we never stepped in and tasted their food. I finally found my partner in crime and went there last Saturday.  We both agreed to try their Crab Cakes above and BBQ Baby Back Ribs. Both were not bad but we were not entirely impressed with the taste too. I don't think this will be a place that we will re-visit. I am glad that we have come and tried.

Fish & Chips, Coffee Lounge

DH and I had the opportunity to eat in selected places at Goodwood Park Hotel and we chose Coffee Lounge. I had not had fish and chips for a long time and selected the item on the menu. The dish was served on a large plate giving a first impression that it was a huge meal. The truth was there were two rather small pieces of Dory and there were not that much chips. DH helped me on both. I completely surrendered to the fried food this time after staying away from them for a while. The chips were quite good, the fish was okay. DH had Taiwan porridge that I did not care much, so there is no picture.

Jamie's Again

The day after we had lunch at Jamie's Italian in Westfield, London, we went back again to Westfield for some errands and decided to try more dishes from Jamie's Italian. We ordered Baked Chestnut Mushroom's as it looked really tempting, we saw the table next to us had a couple of them served. It did taste good.

We also had Crispy Squid. I don't think they were as crispy as I thought would be, but the portion was quite small.

DH had a small Pasta Dish, as usual. I can't remember exactly what is was, but it was likely to be with Aubergines and tomato sauce.

And I thought, we might as well tried their dessert and I chose Tiramisu. It's quite scumptious!

Wagamama, Manchester

Years  ago, when we were in Manchester, we had lunch in Wagamama. On our last trip, I started thinking of this place again, but both of us, DH and I, could not remember the name of the restaurant, hence we could not quite google the address. I, however, still remembered the location, kind of. With the help from DH, to our surprise, we found it in the exact same spot. Imagine the joy we had! Aw.

Wagamama offers a nice selection of Japanese and Asian food.  DH had Chicken Katsu Curry and somehow I ended up with Cha-Chan (Fried Rice). We also ordered a plate of Gyoza. The portion was too large for me. The taste was not spectacular, but the whole experience was great. The service was good and the palce was clean.  It's a place that I'd like to go back to again when I am in town.
