Lunch At Gran Diva Caffe, Sapporo

Back when we were in Sapporo, the two people that I went with let me choose the place for lunch after seeing the places they wanted to have lunch in, in the area, were full and had long lines outside their premises. I picked an Italian restaurant, which would not be my priority, but it's a place that the other two would eat. Both of them like Italian cuisines.

DH, consistently, picked Seafood pasta (wherever he goes, almost!). The dish looked attractive and was generous with the amount of the seafood and more importantly tasted good.

I had Gnocchi Salad (above) which was just okay and had the others tried some as well. Miss K had Penne with Mushroom and we also shared Pizza Margherita. Not bad!

Baked Oatmeal With Blueberries & Bananas

This was one of my breakfast in the past wee involving oatmeal. The oatmeal was baked with sliced bananas on the base and the blueberries were partially mixed with the mix and sprinkled on top. This makes a delicious breakfast.

Banana Walnut Muffins

Of course, we got some very ripe bananas at home and we just had to do something about that. This time, we converted that into mini muffins with wholemeal flour and walnuts. With some cut up fresh fruits and a small cup of yoghurt, breakfast was served! Let the day begin!

Salmon Phyllo Pie

We had some salmon and nearly full pack of phyllo that I wanted to clear. Instead of making individual phyllo wrap with salmon, I adapted a recipe from Jamie Oliver, the phyllo pie was easier to make, it was messier as required and it took less time to put together. The result was tempting-looking and delicious.

Salad & Salmon Lunch

I had this salad for lunch a couple of days ago. The grilled bread was leftover from my homemade ciabatta. The salmon was pan-seared and the cheese was Apetina. The dressing was just EVOO with salt and pepper. Simple and healthy.

CNY Goodies

We baked them and we also got a lot more as gift. In a couple of days, it will be the 15th day of Chinese New Year and it will be all over. We, however, still got plenty of goodies too consume ....

Tempura Lunch in Sapporo

We arrived in Sapporo from Niseko after lunch time. Naturally we were very hungry as we did not have a bite to eat since we left in the morning.  For once, we knew ahead of time, way ahead of time, where we (DH) wanted to have lunch. There is this restaurant up on the 8th floor  (if I remember correctly) of the Daimaru building in Sapporo station that specilizes in Tempura which DH loves so dearly. We always have a meal or two whenever we visit Sapporo.

Just like before, they did not have any English menu. We picked our meals by matching the display on the window and the price listed on their menu. Genius! DH loves to order extra fish and kakiage. Always. He was now a happier man!

Dinner At Ezo Pub

On our second night in Niseko, we chose Ezo Pub to have dinner in. It's a nice change after having a buffet dinner the night before and sushifor lunch. I love burger and had to try their specialty burger. It's was definitely worth the calories. We also shared a Margherita Pizza and Calamari. We also tried a couple of drinks they had and a chocolate cake for dessert.

Vegetarian Stuffed Mushroom

I bought two packs of portobello mushroom and made stuffed mushroom of them.  For the filling, I mixed quite a few ingredients which included carrots, celery and ricotta cheese.

Pictures From Niseko

It snowed everyday when we were in Niseko. It was beautiful, but at times, it was too cold to be out there. Still, we love it there!

Dinner At Melt, Hilton Niseko

We arrived in Niseko in the afternoon after spending some 15 hours or so on the road, taking two flights and a bus ride. So happy to finally get to rest. We made reservation for dinner in one of the restaurants of the hotel and, as nobody wanted to decide, I picked a western buffet at Melt.

The sun went down early, of course, it was winter and we were very hungry as we had skipped lunch, not by our choice. We made early dinner reservation at 5:30 PM.

Melt was a pleasant place to dine, they had a reasonably great selection of food which also included steak and pasta. They also had a tiny section for little kids which had fish and chips as well as a few other dishes. They provide melamine cute plates and utensils special for them. Thoughtful!

I love their desserts, which probably explained why I had more dessert pictures than other food.

View From The Window

The view from our hotel window room in Niseko changed very often throughout the day. Mount Yotei was supposed to be visible but most of the time we could not see it because of the snow shower that came down a lot. One time we were able to see the blue sky in the distance and quickly took some snapshots.
