Dinner At Anzu, San Francisco
First night in San Francisco and we were trying to find a new place that we had never been before, for dinner. A place that had good reference but not far away or in the Union Square area. We found Anzu. On yelp, of course. So here's our first meal in San Francisco, for this trip. Salmon, Beef, and sushi. All were nicely presented, tasted quite delicious and the place had a good service.

Here are some dishes we had on one visit.

Senshu, Fairmont Jakarta
We had omakase with a couple of friends when we were in Jakarta earlier this month. It was basically straight to the restaurant upon landing as traffic was bad. The traffic is always bad in Jakarta. Whatever I planned to do in between arrival and lunch had to be cancelled, even my subsequent appointment had to be rescheduled. Distances are short but it always takes so much longer to reach places. That's Jakarta since as long as I can remember.
I put here some of the good pictures that I have taken, the last one being the dessert. The dessert was french toast that was way too rich and too sweet and a tad too big, especially after we had a bowl of too rich fried rice, that was topped with curry gravy. It's all too much for me.

Lunch At Kopi Tiam, Vivocity
We try to eat much more healthily at home these days. We also try to clear our stocks in the fridge and in the freezer. I have been cooking and baking a lot. So much more than before. At the end of the week, we treat ourselves with something tasty. I am honestly a bit tired of restaurant food, I do not look forward for a waiter to come, take our order and come back with the food. And sometimes, we really have to try hard to get their attention to get refill for ur drinks. I like to go to a clean food court with air conditioner, because it has been super hot here in Singapore.
We picked a place and decided to go to Vivocity. There are two food courts over there that we are aware of, but I prefer a brighter place in the basement called Kopi Tiam. It was lunch time by the time we arrived. First of all getting a table. I waited a tiny bit and we got it. Next, while DH sat down, I looked around for what I wanted to buy.
There were many that I was tempted to get including some from Indonesian food stall and the vegetarian one. In the end, I opted for Yong tofu. I picked several items (looked like all fried ones in the picture, but some of them were not). I also chose small noodles (mee kia). Upon seeing this, DH wanted to have some.
So we went with getting one dish at a time and sharing them. DH went and got a plate of bean curd, egg, etc with noodles and rice. After that, I wanted ice kachang for dessert. That's when DH saw a beef ball stall and he wanted a bowl. It was actually quite delicious.

King of Thai Noodles, San Francisco
San Francisco. It rained and rained. Such a poor timing that we came and it rained so much. Well, California needed water, I guess, so the rain was good for the state. Finally, the much needed free water came pouring down.
We passed by this Thai noodles restaurant around Union Square and we thought it was just perfect to have a bowl of hot soup while it was wet and cold outside.
My eyes and my heart set on beef ball noodles above while DH's pick was noodle soup with sliced fish cakes. My soup was a little bit sweet, but it did not bother me too much. The portions are American portion, i.e. ginormous. We were not able to clean up, it was no surprise. We, however, were satisfied with the flavor we had.

Pho Lunch At Pho, London
It was our last day in London, we were flying off in the evening. Cool weather, gloomy London, made us long for some soup for lunch. Pho was our destination for lunch.
Both of us had Pho brisket, but I added meatballs on mine, because I love meatballs on my pho. We also shared Spring rolls, filled with crab meat, pork and prawn. The food was not bad.

Honest Burger, London
Thanks to Miss P's recommendation, we went up and down looking for an Honest Burger outlet nearby after failing to get our stomach satisfied eating the pork buns from Bao. This was our second lunch. What can I say but yummmmmmm. ........ Burger was good, chips were great.

Fat Cow, Lunch
We revisited Fat Cow for lunch again. We rarely have big dinner, so we normally go out for lunch. We do our best to keep our dinner smallish, hoping we will be in better shape.
I love Fat Cow's Wagyu and Foie Gras that I had before, but at the same time I wanted to try their other dishes too. Such a tough choice, but I finally decided to try their Chirasi. DH stuck to his Sushi, but we also ordered a bowl of Wagyu Beef appetizer that did not impress me much.
Dessert was ice cream by default as we had set menu.

Madam Kwan's Lunch
We revisited Madam Kwan's in Vivo City recently. After being away from the country for a bit, we, normally, craved for something tasty and we thought some sort of rendang, spicy things would fix that.
First of all, I always dislike it when the waiter replies with 50 cents (or $1) when I order water. If they haven't put the price of water in their drink menu, they should have by now and they do not need to say that to my face when I ask for water. It is simply unpleasant, in my opinion. It is actually so irritating to have to pay for drinking tap water. In so many restaurants in so many cities in the USA and UK, and other countries that I have been, they are free of charge and they come in big glasses with slices of lemon sometimes. Anyway, if they must charge, do so, There's no need to say it after I ask for water. There are better ways to inform the customers rather than saying the numbers.
Also I need to mention here is the fact that the server did not have any idea what he put down on the table. I was not sure what the plate he put down was, so I asked and he said he did not know. Hmmh.. The plate turned out to be, supposed to be, their most popular dish, Nasi Lemak.

Anyway, the picture at the top, set out below, is called Nasi Bojari. The menu says it is try-colored rice with Assam prawns, beef rendang and fried drumstick. There were likely two prawns and a tiny bit, very unsatisfying amount of rendang and a half of boiled egg.
DH ordered Nasi Lemak. It was served with chicken curry, samba ikon bills, dried shrimp floss, a half of boiled egg and car, according to the menu.

Lunch At Fat Cow
I am pleased when we try a new place to have a meal and their food turn out to suit our taste well. This is one of those. Fat Cow is about beef, so I chose Foie Gras and Wagyu beef (Fat Foa-gura don). DH chooses sushi, because he likes sushi and he does not want to eat much beef. Whatever.
Both of us picked their set lunch and the meal began with salad, miso soup and chawan sushi. I love the dressing of the salad and the soup, but there's not much love for their chawan sushi, just not my kind.
They also gave us a plate of momotaro sashimi salad (tomato salad) which was super delicious. The sliced tomatoes were fresh and sweet and the dressing was very nice and refreshing. I could have more of this.
As part of the set lunch, we had honeycomb ice cream for dessert, which was superb as well. We had an extra bonus of mochi that was equally delicious.
