Gado-Gado Boplo

When I lived in Jakarta, I liked getting Gado-gado (Indonesia salad with peanut sauce) from this place called Gado-Gado Boplo.  The restaurant seems to have been quite successful, opening many branches in Jakarta and the greater Jakarta area. On my recent trip to Indonesia, we were driving towards Bumi Serpong Damai area when I saw a giant signboard of the restaurant on the way. My sister and I decided to turn around and have a second lunch there. Our first mini lunch was in the train to Jakarta from Cirebon, about two hours earlier.

The restaurant looked clean and they have a nice menu with pictures. We ordered a plate of gado gado without lontong (rice cakes) and another plate of plain Nasi Rames (no egg, no chicken). They both were tasty and delicious and really satisfied our cravings (for Indonesian food).

We also had Iced coconut. My favorite! Love, love, love to go back there!

Borough Market, Part 1

It was our first time to Borough market in London, despite the many trips to the city we had earlier. For people that care about food like us, this is such a fantastic place to be. There are food from all over the world. So much to see, so much to experience and so much to taste. The market does not open on daily basis, so do notice its opening days if you plan to visit. We had lunch over there and we bought some food here and there. Here are some pictures from our visit.

Lunch At Keyaki, Jakarta

Between my landing time in Jakarta and my train ride time, I should have had more than enough time for lunch, visiting the bakery that I used to frequent and waiting for the departure time. But I forgot to factor in the awfulness of the traffic in Jakarta. No matter how skillful the driver that drove the car that I was in and how comfortable the car was, I was already hungry and becoming sicker as we got closer to Sari Pacific Hotel.  I finally arrived at this Japanese restaurant, Keyaki, highly recommended by DH for its Teriyaki Cod. It's no brainer for me, that was what I ordered, Gindara Teriyaki set lunch.

The cod was rather small, or maybe a wee bit too small for a hungry person, but it was done so well, delicious! All together, I paid nearly Rp 300,000 or around S$35.

Mezza9 Lunch

From time to time, we'd like to have lunch in one of the restaurants at Grand Hyatt Hotel. In general, they have good food and nice service. The price is a little steep, but it helps that DH has a Hyatt card that can be used  to get discount and we also have other credit cards that facilitate similar advantage. It's Mezza9 again last week.

I picked a two-course meal, the starter being Thai Soft Shell Crab salad. I requested that they reduce the amount of lime juice used and I got just what I asked for. It suited better to my preference.

My main course was Rotisserie Chicken with mixed vegetables. I realized only now that it should have come with roast potatoes and they just never provided them for me. I might bring it up on my next visit.

DH had all Japanese starter and main. We ended our lunch with a cup of Cappuccino. No dessert!

Warm And Sunny

On the day we went out for sightseeing, London sky was so blue and the cool weather was away. It was a nice warm day. We took tube to Westminster and took pictures of the Parliament Building with its Big Ben (above). Just right there, we were able to see the London Eye

The above picture is Westminster Abbey, there was such a long line to get in.

We then walked to the Buckingham palace (again and again and again!). Plenty of people were visiting..... It was really crowded.

Desserts At Zizzi, Oxford

We were still in Oxford. It was after lunch and we were heading to the train station to go back to London. We knew that we would pass by Zizzi and we planned to stop buy for coffee and had their Apple Crumble dessert. We had it before when we in Cambridge and for the sake of good memory, we wanted to have it again.

The above is Mela Croccante. It is oven baked apple with crumble topping, served with a scoop of vanilla gelato.

My family is a chocolate lover and they simply could resist ordering their their Torta Cioccolata. The menu describes it as a rich hazelnut and chocolate tart, was also served with a scoop of vanilla gelato.
