Paul, Jakarta

There's a Paul bakery/restaurant  nearby our place in Jakarta and we headed there fro some sweets and breakfast. It's not quite the type of food that I'd like to have for breakfast, but these are some of the pictures we had on a couple of occasions when we went there.

Waffle Breakfast

Breakfast was homemade wholemeal waffles. They are not hard to make and I was able to eat them with whatever I want, in this case, I had them with berries and my favorite Greek honey.

Waffles For Breakfast

Once in a while, I like to have waffles at home, a healthier type like these wholemeal ones. Pan seared bananas are always preferred, with mixed berries and some Maple syrup and coconut cream. Just loving this combo!

Just Waffles!

It was Sunday yesterday and we had waffles. It was buttermilk waffles with homemade strawberry sauce. No big deal. I simply could not resist putting up the pictures here. They were delicious though. I still can imagine the taste of them ..... yum.

Cooler Morning After

We had a thundery evening. Lightning struck one after another even before the darkness fell. The night was a little cold, but it was nothing compared to the coldness in Colorado for sure. But it was a cold evening and we had a cool night indeed. My little girl was patiently waiting for the lightning to come and capture them with her camera, leaving me alone in the kitchen preparing dinner all by myself.

Subsequently, the morning we had was a nice and cool one. We had waffles for breakfast with DH's mom who was in town after returning from her trip to Shanghai with DH. I prepared some strawberry sauce made from scratch and homemade applesauce to accompany the waffles. It was a beautiful Sunday morning.

We'll Finish These ...

My two kids here were somewhat heartbroken facing the fact that their big sister must go away for college, they knew it was coming. So was the big sister who must leave. They all talked about it from time to time, we all did. They put on brave face, yet when the time came, bidding adieu was tough and it still hurt that separation was unavoidable, ....thousand smiles away. This time was different than the previous little trips made before. It's not going to be 2-3 weeks anymore.

I know for a fact, that everything is going to be alright. We will see each other again in no time, October of maybe December. See..? That's not bad at all. Besides, everyone has so much on the plate in the coming months. From DH with his (God bless) projects, our house move, one starting college, one has preparation courses for Sacrament of Confirmation and the start of IB program. I can be sure that the level of stress will be high, everyone will be very occupied. Time will fly before we know it.

We have been taking about making blueberry waffles for breakfast in the past days. I halved the recipe down to accommodate the three people with not so big appetite and in the end, the three of us had a good size breakfast and nearly cleaned up the batter made. It was a nice, calm Saturday breakfast .... before the school begins.

Thanks, Mobile Phone...

I have to admit that I put a reminder on my mobile phone for myself the night before I go to bed when I get some ideas for breakfasts. I actually feel better if it is for rather important matters. But breakfast? It's kind of lame. But it's legit. A reminder is a reminder. Breakfast is important too, the experts have said that it is the most important meal of the day. My memory chip is nearly full that I sometimes forget things that I plan to do, that's when mobile phone with an alarm become handy. Writing it down on a piece of paper or my diary does not help me too much. I either can't find the paper or do not open my diary until days later. Paper and diary do not produce alarming sound as well. Thank goodness for the invention of mobile phone with alarm.

It has been a while since we had waffles for breakfast, I was craving for them last night, just when I was about to fall asleep. Strange, I know. I, of course, had to typed it on my mobile phone just in case my memory failed me. When I woke up this morning, I still remembered it and made my moves to make it happen. Coincidentally, my youngest girl told me that she thought about waffles too last night.... Hmmmmm..... what do they say... Great minds think alike! Melodramatic

Sunday Morning Waffles

It's Sunday morning and it's time for waffles. Served with whipped cream and topped with strawberries. Alternatively one could opt to have them with bananas, topped with caramel sauce. Equally good!
