At Candy Baron...

Going to candy store is fun, and tempting at times. This is Candy Baron Store at Fishermen's Wharf. We dropped by, looked around, resisted the temptation and left after we enjoying the scene and smell.

There were so many types of candy, all around. Anyone who eats candy should be able to find something that they like. They seem to have just about everything.

This Begins With....

I tend to gain weight when I travel. Thank God that I do not travel as many times in a year as DH. This faraway trip to San Francisco, though last for a few days only, also resulted in gain. In the plane to Seoul, it all began with Satay. Prior to that, we actually had breakfast in the lounge at the airport. We left home so early that we did not had breakfast at home. In this 6 hours and a few minute trip to Seoul, the flight attendants served us Scallop and Soba noodle salad after the Satay.

The scallop and the leaves were reasonable in size and I was already hungry by then. I cleaned up with no problem at all.

I am not a fan of Soba, but I was willing to try since it was served in front of me. It was actually quite delicious, the soup was very tasty.

They had three or four main entrees to pick from and I went for the lamb, it was Lamb Loin in Mint Jus with roasted vegetables and olive oil mashed potato with leek. It was reasonably nice too. I was quite easy to please, I guess.

Next, I had their Coffee Ice Cream. It was served with a little fruit salad. I had some of those and proceeded with their Cheese and Crackers. Also a piece of praline. Then I continued sitting, of course and watched some Big Bang Theory episodes and had a little nap before landing at Seoul airport. See how how the pile up began.........? (I had not mentioned the drinks I picked to have, including coffee!)

Ar Roi On Post St.

The concierge at our hotel in San Francisco suggested us a Thai restaurant that is supposed to be the best if not one of the bests in town. Unfortunately, it was closed the day before and on Independence Day. It was a good thing that we were still around on 5th July and we really wanted to try. By we, I meant, DH, naturally. It would be for lunch. As we planned for more Scala's dinner on our last evening in San Francisco.

This place was just a couple of blocks away from Union Square. It was so easy to just walk to the place while the weather continued to be super gorgeous. We arrived at around 11:30, it was early and of course, it was very quiet. We were their first customers of the day. It was mutually decided that we had Spring Rolls as starter. It's a right on choice. They were so good.

DH also attempted to try their Tom Yum Soup, a little deviation from our routine. The soup was great. Interestingly, I found some tomatoes inside. I don't recall having Tom Yum Soup with tomatoes before. The balance of the taste in the soup was excellent. It was another great dish that we loved.

Pad Thai. Sure. DH liked it so much, it was the best he's had so far and I must agree with him. I am drooling just typing this out and looking at the pictures. I want more from them!

We only ordered Green Curry Chicken after all the food that we ordered arrived, upon the recommendation from the waitress. Since everything that we had so far were satisfying, we decided to go ahead and order a bowl of it. We thought we could put more food into our expanding tummies. This one did not disappoint to. We loved, loved, loved it! How I wish I had space for dessert, it's too bad we were so stuffed. Happily stuffed! If only I could take this restaurant to Singapore, it would be so fantastic!

Can't Miss Hui Lan Shan!

This is one dessert place that we refuse to miss each time we come to Hong Kong, especially for DH and Miss K. Hui Lau Shan claims to sell healthy desserts with focus mainly on Mango. They do serve other flavors as well, but their mango related products are the most popular ones.

Hui Lau Shan has many branches all over Hong Kong and in some other countries. There used to be one in Singapore which now has no longer existed. Sad. They have one shop at the airport, made it possible for us to have our last minute dessert to have before we took off. We went again this time after having them the day before in the city.

DH had his usual dessert, dominated by mango and more mango, while I had the one with black glutinous rice. We also had some Mango Mochi.

Talking about satisfaction before heading home! Sweet!

Not To Miss.....

When DH goes to Hong Kong, he would not miss his favorite dessert and these pan fried dumplings. He just has to drop by and get them. We did too this time. The place is located in the basement of Times Square. They are inexpensive and super delicious. In fact, we ate there twice this time. Yes, they are that good, according to DH. I simply tagged along and ate some. I like them too.

Harry Potter Is Coming....

We were in Hong Kong for one night before heading back home, we stopped by at Times Square, a shopping center that was also at present promoting the upcoming arrival of the last installment of Harry Potter movie. It seems like lots of fans there too (and everywhere).

I am not too familiar with all the stories surrounding Harry Potter but I know a tiny bit of the storyline. Not much. I took some pictures for my kids who are excited about Harry Potter and the gang.

On The Fourth...

It's 4th July here now in San Francisco. Most businesses went on as usual. Lots of sale. Lots of tourists. With Miss K being away already, we took our time to get ready. It was so late morning by the time we were ready and walked out of the hotel. We even stopped by at William Sonoma and headed to Scala's Bistro that has former Top Chef contestant, Jen Biesty as the Executive Chef. It's a block away. Everywhere is nearly a block away from each other. That's the best part of staying around Union Square. It's our second time there over the past three days. It's our first meal of the day. I ordered one of the least expensive items on the menu, Bistro Burger. I ended up with a large burger (to my measurement), with lots of super nice, crunchy and tasty fries.

My Contorni was Sauteed Spinach, deliciously prepared with garlic, grilled lemon and olive oil. It was a very filling lunch (or brunch), even though I was not able to finish them up.

Union Square, SF

I use Singapore time for my blog posts so it is always ahead of US time. This morning I had a post dated 4th July, but here in San Francisco where I am now, it is still 3rd July. I will a couple more hours before we celebrate Independence Day here. I never thought much of it til I read the date of my previous post. It's not 4th of July, yet, here. Interesting!

From our room at Grand Hyatt, we can see Macy's and its Cheesecake Factory restaurant and somehow we felt so tempted that we had to dine there. Miss K was about to move in to UC Berkeley dorm this afternoon and it was our chance to eat together at Cheesecake Factory this afternoon for lunch. The picture above is the view from the restaurant this afternoon, taken from outside Cheesecake Factory. It's Union Square, looking so vibrant!

Driving Along The Piers

We were done with Berkeley and headed back to San Francisco. Our plan was to go to Golden Gate but it was aborted because we were running out of time. We had a dinner reservation at 7:30 and the traffic was really heavy. We aimed lower and drove along the water towards Pier 39 and turn around to Palace of Fine Arts.

The sky was so blue, no cloud was to be found. it was another super gorgeous day in San Francisco. Lots and lots of tourists and people everywhere.....

At Fisherman's Wharf

It was a gorgeous day in San Francisco yesterday, it was warmer than the day before and we practically could survive with one layer of clothing.

We planned to visit the famous tourist trap again, Fisherman's Wharf! We did. Simply could not help it although we have been here before. In fact each time we came, we visited the place and had our lunch here too.
