Just a coupe of days after I baked Swiss Roll, DH came back from Jakarta with a box of layer cake that he received when he visited Surabaya. It a hurray for the calories! This cake is known as Lapis Surabaya or Surabaya Layer Cake. Surabaya being the place where it is reportedly originated from. The recipe requires tons of yolks and little amount of flour, explaining very well the tenderness and softness of the textures are from. The one that we got, came from a bakery there. Just delish!
