To The Garden We Go

One of several things we enjoy doing when we visit places is going to their garden. It's not so much because we are well educated about flowers and plants, we simply enjoy the greens, the colors and the beauty of what's in the there. We can't name most of the plants there or anywhere, surely that shouldn't stop anyone to go.

Chicago Botanic Garden is a unique garden that we visited while we were there. I just wish we could have gone when the sun was not really up there, roasting us for the 4th of July meal. Unfortunately we could not choose any better time than at noon yesterday. Arggggh.... it was really hot although the cool breeze helped.

We drove there, it's about 30 minutes away from downtown, provided that you don't get lost in the traffic. The admission was free, but the car park was $15, which I don't think was too bad for the three of us. The parking was plenty. The lovely 385-acre garden features 23 gardens placed on nine islands surrounded by lakes and is a great place to go to.

Despite the heat, we enjoyed our visit there. This is a wonderful place to go to for almost anyone who visits Chicago. Get those walking shoes ready and a bottle of cold water will be handy. Don't forget your camera too!
